National Fire Prevention Week
Huntingdon Valley Fire Department… In honor of National Fire Prevention Week, kindergarten through grade 4 participated in a fire safety assembly this week. Your child has “homework” to do in your home on this topic. If students bring their completed “homework” to the fire station’s Open House this Saturday from 11-4, they will receive a prize!
VCS Visits Regional Nature Sites
VCS Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades recently enjoyed some time studying nature during their exciting hands-on learning trips.
- Kindergarten visited the Churchville Nature Center to enhance their study of Habitats and Animals.
- 1st, 3rd and 5th grades visited Longwood Gardens to study living things, life cycles of plants and animals, plants inside and out, plant processes, and plant reproduction.
- 4th grade visited Briar Bush Nature Center to compliment their study on animals’ needs, and vertebrates and invertebrates.
Upcoming trips include Styers Orchard (preschool and kindergarten) and the Elmwood Park Zoo (1st, 2nd & 3rd)
Christopher Columbus: Admiral Christbearer

Valley Christian School will host William A. Roy Jr. a historian
who is dedicated to
keeping ‘Christ in history.’
He will be presenting “Christopher Columbus Admiral Christbearer” – a live seminar and reenactment. He will read quotes from “the Log of Christopher Columbus.” During the seminar we will:
- learn of Columbus’ “burning desire” for Christ
- experience Christian perseverance like never before and
- see how the power of the Gospel brought Christianity into the western hemisphere
