FIRE PREVENTION DAY AT VALLEY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL

HUNTINGDON VALLEY, PA OCTOBER 6, 2006: On Friday, October 6th Valley Christian School students were visited by 8 members of the Huntingdon Valley Fire Company as well as Sparky the Dog. The children, preschool through grade six, enjoyed the power point presentation covering topics such as: calling 911, changing smoke detector batteries every six months, getting out and staying out of a burning building, crawling through a smoke filled room, and never play with matches or lighters. The students were also able to see a fully dressed fire fighter and reminded not to hide in a fire situation. The children had their questions answered and had the opportunity to see the fire trucks up close.

Valley Christian School welcomed back one of their graduates, Kevin Denio, who joined the Fire Company this year following the footsteps of his grandfather who was a past chief. VCS also welcomed Chaplain Paul Randolph whose children attended VCS. It was an excellent presentation and was extremely effective in teaching and reminding the students of the importance of being fire safety smart. Thank you to the entire HVFC and to Lt. Jeff Kramer, Lt. Chuck Beaudet, Ben Manis, Brian Appelbaum, Greg Kasitz, Erika Becker, Kevin Denio and Chaplain Paul Randolph for coming to Valley Christian School and for your daily service to protect our community.

The Huntingdon Valley Fire Company serves Lower Moreland Township, which is located in eastern Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. We share borders with the City of Philadelphia (east), Abington Township (south), Upper Moreland Township (west) and Bucks County (north). We proudly protect approximately 13,000 people living in an area of about 7.5 square miles. We operate nine (9) vehicles out of one station. Our department is fully staffed by VOLUNTEER members.
